Concert on 6th June 2015
Dishforth Military Wives’ Choir
and guests
New Pasture Lane Primary School Choir, Bridlington
What a wonderful performance from both Choirs under the leadership of Ruth Sladden and Malcolm Maddock for the Military Wives and Julie Granton for the School.
During the evening, favourite Military Wives’ Choir songs were sung including: Wherever you are; Bring him home; Make you feel my love; When will I see you again; On my own and Fix you.
The audience of over 300, joined in singing some favourite Charles Wesley Hymns, including Captain of Israel’s Host, and Guide; And Can it be That I should Gain and Love Divine, all Loves Excelling.
Also included was a Vera Lynn Medley of wartime songs alongside old favourites, It’s a long way to Tipperary and Pack up your troubles
The School Choir rose to the occasion and were truly excellent. That the children managed to learn so many songs, alongside the accompanying actions which really enhanced the performance, is a tribute to the children, their families and especially the School staff.
Songs included Any dream will do; You raise me up; Hallelujah; Let it go and many others.
Both Choirs joined in Sing, written by British singer-songwriter Gary Barlow and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, first performed as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert celebrations on 4th June 2012.
